Nutri Grain Points Value

I love the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain bar. My favorite is the apple cinnamon. 48 bars for I believe $8.79. I know it was in the $8 or $7 range. 16 apple, 16 blueberry and 16 strawberry.

They are a quick snack and I had them before I started WW. They have a points value of 3. I found this on page 183 of the Complete Food companion Guide in the Cereal & Bars section under Kellogg's Nutri-grain. Also if I use the manual points finder and align the 0 grams of fiber with 140 calories and locate 3 grams of fat it is right smack in the 3points value. lack of fiber drives up the points value

I think they are better ways to spend 3 points. But I have a whole lot left. I like to have 2 bars in the morning with a cup of tea. Have to find a better snack to have in the morning and save this for an on the go meal or a dessert

Supermarket Shopping

Now I remember why I love WW. All the 1pt stuff and their bread. 2 slices- 1pt. Can't be beat. And their 2pt ice cream treats. This will be my 1st time trying the ice cream treats. I recently complained about not having the Mr.Softee ice cream when my family is having it. This is my substitute. And even though it was $5.60 for a box of 4. It works out cheaper than the $1.50 cone from Mr. Softee!

The other tools I bought. I call them tools for the weight loss.
1. The WW's Bread - $3.29 (2 slices - 1pt)
2. WW Carrot Cake snack - $3.29- 6 individually wrapped cakes in the box (1pt)
3. WW Chocolate Cake snack - $3.29- 6 individually wrapped cakes in the box (1pt)

So I spent $15.50 for my WW's aid. Losing weight and being happy is expensive.

Weigh In Day

Fridays are my weigh in day. I weighed on Monday as I was going to start the principles of WW that day and wanted to see what effect it would have when I weighed on Friday.

You have to love week 1 on being on any diet. 161.6lbs baby!!!! 6lbs baby!!! I am sure most of it is water weight and on Monday when I weighed I had just ate and when I weighed this morning I did not have my 1st meal of the day yet. But I will take it.

So the goal for next week Friday is 1lb to be at 160lbs. Wish me luck and strong will power!

Write Down Everything

I have to do better at writing down everything. I decided that this week was a practice run. What was I thinking of going cold turkey.

The last time. I was diligent in writing everything down. And I think that was a key to my weight loss.
1 it does help you keep track of what you are doing and your points. I find that not writing everything down as meticulous as I use - makes me lose track of points.

Another thing, if you have to write it down, makes you think twice about using those points.

How did Day 4 go

I must say that for Day 2, I also did some physical work. My mom is redoing the front of her house by adding pavers. So on Tuesday I did some hard labor helping her excavate the land... digging dirt and digging more dirt. That must have given me 2 extra points there. I was reading someone's post about accidental exercise and I think that was mine.

I must say if I would only muster up,I don't know what - to get me on the treadmill, I would be in much better shape. I have the desire, maybe I need the will.

Hmm.. how did Thursday go. I started off with old habits which was having a cup of tea (1pt) and 2 Nutrigrain bars (6pts), my daughter did have some.... brunch was a drumstick and some chicken casserole.... dinner was lemon herb picatta.... (i think)

Not too happy with day 3

Today is Friday, since I was not proud of how well I stuck to my plan, I was not posting, but I just weighed and am very happy, so will document.

Wednesday, I woke up extremley hungry, so if I remember correctly, I had the leftovers from the fathers day dinner for breakfast. That was the roast pork, the mash potatoe bake and some chicken casserole. Very delicious and filling. It was for breakfast and lunch. I did not eat again until the evening. A 4pt Honey Chicken meal. And maybe 2 1pt yogurts throughout the day. So since it is hard for me to calculate the meal, I just gave it the balance of my daily points and hoped that I was in my daily point total for the day.

Being a stay at home mom with 2 young kids. I have to be well fortified in the morning. I cannot be hungry because then my patience is low. So I like to eat big in the mornings and low for the rest of the day.

So at 5:45pm today I have used 7+1 = 8 + 6 14 +1 = 15.
My daily points is 22. Left for the day 22-15 = 7.

I think I can have a little of the oxtail and potato bake without hurting the diet too much. hopefully i lose.

Awrighty must go give the little ones their bath now.

Day 2 - What a Struggle

Day 2 is usually a struggle. Day 1, you are excited, you are motivated, you are taking positive steps. You have forgotten since the last time you tried to lose weight how hard this shit was. Hell if is was easy, everyone would be walking around in size 6.

Day 2 is when it sets in. It's when Mr.Softee ice cream truck passed by the night before and you bought ice cream for the family and you could not have it. It's when you wake up hungry in the morning because you did not have a late snack with your husband of milk and cookies. It's when you do not even have the positive of losing weight from the week before to motivate yourself.

I survived by having 3 of the 1point yogurts. Not bad but what a struggle

Day 1- Did Not Go As Planned

So at 5:02pm yesterday I had a plan, right? So what happened?

Having to get dinner for 2 kids and a husband and having low, low will power is what happened. We had leftovers from a Father's Day dinner that my mother had made is what happened. She made my husbands favorites which included this mash potato and sweet potato layer bake casserole that had 2 different kind of cheese and who knows what else. She also made him some Jamaican dishes that he likes: Curry goat and oxtail.

how in the world could I share out roast pork, curry goat and the potato casserole for my husband and not have some. To my credit, I took small portions of the oxtail and the potato casserole. We also had bought him a Cold Stone Creamery cake (so good) I gave all of the leftovers to my mom except 1 slice for my hubby. I told him to eat it while I put down our girls to sleep. Do you know I came downstairs and scraped the bowl for 1 spoonful that was left. Disgraceful! But I loved that 1 spoonful. I satisfied my dessert fix with a Light & Fit Dannon Peach Yogurt. 1point.

So I think that was my 18 points there. Anyways I console myself that it was good that I had that food. I cannot live on the SmartOnes alone. I must not be afraid of cooking myself.

Core Plan vs Flex Plan

I forgot that WW has 2 plans: The Core Plan and the Flex Plan.

For the record I am doing the Flex Plan - the one with the points. The core is alot like South Beach where you do not count points, you just have a list of foods that you can eat as much from.

Me, I like structure. Left to my own devices I will eat it all. Portion control always been my downfall

Weekly Points Allowance

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that I get a weekly points allowance of 35 points. Another reason to love WW. I usually don't use my 35 and if I do I might use a small portion, like 5 to 10 points.

But for those family trips to IHOP and Red Lobster those 35 does come in handy!

4 Tips That Help On WW

4 things that save me on weight watchers:

1. WATER
water, water and more water. Water fills you up like no tomorrow. I drink a class before I eat and at least 2 glasses while I am eating. When I am finished eating I drink another glass. In between meals I have water. Downside, I pee alot. A whole lot. But the water takes the edge of the hunger. O points

2. HOT SAUCE
to drink so much water, I need hot sauce. O points

3. GUM
I am big dessert person. If I do not have desert after each meal, the meal is absolutely incomplete. So after each meal a nice Trident Tropical Twist gum does the trick. In between meals - a nice glass of water and a gum. O points

4. Salad
Supplementing the weight watchers meal with salad - Dole Greener Selection. Could not survive on the small portions of the weight watchers meal. O points

Day 1 WW: Points Spent

Breakfast: 4
SmartOnes Honey Dijon Chicken - 4
Salad - 0
ketchup - 0
hot sauce - 0
Lots and lots of water - 0

Lunch - 4
SmartOnes - Lemon Herb Picatta - 4
ketchup - 0
hot sauce - 0
Lots and lots of water - 0

22 - 8 = 14points left

I am doing good for day 1 so far. I plan on spending another 4 on dinner and 1 on dessert, which will leave me with 9.. not bad... it is now 5:02pm day 1..lets see how the remainder of the day will go.

Week 1 - Daily Points Target

So what is your Daily Points Target? 5 Questions to your weight loss.

Mine is:
a) Female - 2
Can you believe a man get a whopping 6 points more. UGH

b) Age - 3
Thank goodness i fall into the 27-37 range. If I had to lose points because I was hitting 30 that would be depressing

c) Weight - 16
This is the cool part, when I was 183, this was 18. Sure you lose points but it is cool to realize you are losing the weight

d) Height - 1
Nothing to complain about here.

e) Lifestyle - 0
I am still going to use 0 here even though my lifestyle has changed. When I started this in January, I was a technology project leader at a major bank. I traded that lifestyle for the glory of being a stay at home. That story needs it's own blog. So my lifestyle was mostly sitting down then, now I think i could get another 2 points. But I am not going to take it. I have to be aggressive about losing this weight.

So my grand total is 22points

Weight Life Story

So, since we are on a journey, let's share how we acquired this weight. How did you get your weight?

I was always thankful that I was never fatter than I was because I LOVE to eat. I was between 135 and 145 before I had my first daughter. My husband loves to remind me that I was always complaining about how fat I was then and that I still was not happy... What I would not give to be 145 again!

hmm.. after my 1st daughter (3/2004), i think I was at 160- 165 and did not try very hard to lose the weight. At this point in my life I had never curbed what I eat, never been on any diet. my 2nd daughter was born in December of 2005. During that pregnancy I hit 211lbs... Still was not worried.. Baby had most of the weight right.. WRONG!...

After 2nd pregnancy settled to 180lbs.... This called for drastic measures. Had to do some formal dieting plan.

Tried watching what I ate without following any specific diet - no results. Tried South Beach - it was okay lost 10lbs. Gained it back when I went on vacation and never followed the diet after vacation.

Tried WW - lost 13lbs and kept it off.

Slowly trying to lose the weight. My main thing is to not gain it back when I lose it.. so I hope to lose 13lbs to get to 155 in 5 weeks.

Next Step: Weigh In Day

What is your weigh in day?

WW does not encourage daily weighing. I do not like it either. Once a week to get on the dreaded scale is enough torture.

You know that feeling of you sacrificing all week and all you lost was a stinky half a pound or 1lb.. But yet still grateful that you lost something, disappointed that is was not more and happy that you did not gain.

But oh that joyous feeling of losing 1.5 to 2lbs! Especially if it was not too painful.

Fridays will be my weekly weigh-in day. Right before the weekend which is usually my down fall and gives me enough time to recover from whatever damage I did on the weekends.

Weekly Weigh Date: Fridays

Starting Weight

So what is your starting weight?

First things first.. Must have that starting weight.. I should have weighed in before I had my 1st meal. Plus Monday is so not a good day to weight - I am coming off the weekend. But I need that first weight.

Lemme do it now even though my belly is FULL.. it will probably add 1lb to my weight...

Okay, just weighed... the number is a little higher than I was expecting... I was expecting 165... but scale says 168.6lb

So starting weight: 168.6lb

Back on Weight Watchers Diet

So anybody else returning to Weight Watchers? Today is Monday June 18th and I will attempt to be on this diet for 5 weeks. Until Friday, July 20th.

Plan is to lose 10lbs by then for our BBQ on July 21st. I always need motivation or a goal to stick to this diet. The 1st time I did WW was in January of this year. I had a goal to lose 15lbs for my daughters 3 year old party in March and succeeded!

I started in January at the highest weight I ever been: 183lbs. I am 5-9 so it was not fat fat, but it was still more than I was use to and it was making me depressed... my stomach was huge....

WW worked very well for me. Did not feel like I was giving up a lot and I LOVED the structure. Some people hate counting points and keeping track, but I love it. So here we go again.

WW here we come
